Trip to Atchinson, Kansas

On April 3, 2008, a group of us took a trip to Atchinson, Kansas for a tour of Gordon Parks and for conversations with the monks.  We had lunch and then went looking for the grave of Pardee Butler, a very important person in Disciple history.

Here are some photos of the trip to Atchinson

First Christian Church of Olathe purchased our new bus on January 16, 2008.  We are very excited since this is something we have considered for a long time.  We are certain that it will provide us with many opportunities to expand our future ministries in the church and in the community.

Beginning of Advent 2007 – Family Celebration

Children and adults enjoyed the morning of crafts.  There were several different craft tables for the children to choose from, ranging from decorating Christmas ornaments to perlar beads.  The day ended with a visit from Santa who handed out candy canes to the children.

Roberta’s Retirement as Food Manager at Tall Oaks

On October 7, 2007, a retirement reception was held here at First Christian Church Olathe for Roberta and Wilbur Christenson.  Several people talked about what having Roberta and Wilbur at Tall Oaks Conference Center meant to them.  They were given gifts and honored for all the years of work at Tall Oaks serving in the Management of Food and Hospitality.  Around 150 people came to the open house celebration and had cookies and punch and enjoyed good fellowship.
